That's not the case nowadays. Democrats want massive infrastructure overhaul in this nation (and state) right now, but Republicans aren't voting for it.

I-84 east of Waterbury was widened in Cheshire. They should be beginning construction on the Waterbury section later this year. This project was delayed because of funding issues. Jay

From the articles that came out lately it sounds like CT Border towns will see the only tolls. Wonder what impact that has on our Federal Funding.

It sounds like one of these slots we "won," allows us to bypass certain federal prohibitions. Can we give this "prize" back? Lol!

There are only two projects listed on the FHWA site: I-95 tolling and I-84 tolling in Hartford (re-purposing the HOV lanes, if I read it right). So only one of the two is border-related.

The Danbury I-84 tolling that has been suggested isn't an official project.

They (State) had a Town Council meeting in Enfield (last week) because they want to put a toll on 91 and many people were opposed to them. I think they are in the "talking" stage so the funding hasn't put in place yet which is why I think they don't show up.

This..New push for tolls in Connecticut - four toll bills in legislature - Toll Roads News
map shows 8 proposed tolling locations.

As the article indicated this is a good time to propose tolls since the Republicans control both the Fed house and senate. I would expect them to fast track any bill that reduces Fed spending and puts it on the states.

The proposed tolls are interesting, but there is no way there will only be tolls at the border. I fully expect to see at least one in the Hartford area.

I'm not against tolls if they are small and the roads are actually improved. The gas tax will have to be reduced significantly too, perhaps cut in half.

That i-91 toll is ill-advised since you can drive around it via RT 20 or RT 75. I'd expect traffic to increase on those routes, especially truck traffic. Maybe put a toll at the entrance to BDL ? I think Las Vegas does this before entering their airport.

One way to improve traffic flow on I-91 between Hartford & Windsor would be to have variable HOV lane restrictions based on time of day. I do not mean a pay to drive or lexus lane either. It would be structured like this, during rush hour HOV restrictions are in place, other times the HOV lane is open to everyone.

Long Island does this on the expressway. Their HOV lane has restrictions 6-10am and 3-8pm weekdays. Other times any one can use them.

There is a significant population from MA that works in CT every day. I worked in Windsor before and at least 25% of our office staff were from MA. They aren't going to be happy.

No, the I-84 project is the replacement of the Aetna viaduct which is a $2 billion project. It has nothing to do with the existing HOV lanes. Jay
