I am eager to move from Manhattan to South Norwalk but like some of us true native New Yorkers, driving is not my strong suit and I have not secured a license yet. I certainly plan to but my question is...for someone
working in manhattan who plans to live within walking distance from train, can I get by without
a car during my first few months in town, as I get my permit, take lessons, buy a car, get a feel for
the neighborhood, etc?

There are buses that can take you to stores in Norwalk for grocery shopping as well as get you to other places you may want to go. Jay

I would seriously consider getting the process started now, either in CT or in New York and then using the NY license to get a CT one. In CT, even if you're an adult it's a 90-day minimum to go from permit to license. (That's my understanding, though I could be wrong.) That would be a long time to live in Sono without a license. It's doable, but definitely will be a struggle.
