I was thinking that too. A bunch of schools had HUGE jumps and falls.

Holy sheep! Newtown High School is that high?! And what the hell?! Why is Farmington always beating all these FFC towns?! I don't get it! Ridgefield should be MUCH higher. Honestly, Ridgefield is top 5 along with Wilton, Weston, and Darien's.

I hate these lists, to be honest. They never capture Connecticut schools properly, if you ask me.

The best high schools in Connecticut - Connecticut Post

"The site explains that "a three-step process determined the Best High Schools. The first two steps ensured that the schools serve all of their students well, using performance on state proficiency tests as the benchmarks. For those schools that made it past the first two steps, a third step assessed the degree to which schools prepare students for college-level work."

- Step 1 determined whether each school's students were performing better than statistically expected for the average student in the state.

- Step 2 determined whether the school's least-advantaged students were performing better than average for similar students in the state.

- Step 3 judged college-readiness performance using Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate test data as the benchmarks for success."

The IB academy is in East Hartford. Amistad is in New Haven. The website says the academy of Aerospace & Engineering is moving to Windsor.

I'm still really bothered that Magnet/Regional school with a formal selection process is compared to public HS which take all students within town/city borders. Why draw the line at magnet and just throw in privates? It also speaks volumes as to the quality of the top publics

I'm just glad the town I live in made the list! Time to put the house on the market. This list just bumped the price up by $10k.

Agreed. It really makes no sense.

And what is up with Hand being ranked so low?
