It doesn't need an explanation. It's common sense why.

No, it's not. If they aren't worth $10/hour, what is the advantage of paying them that?

The economist Tyler Cowen often refers to ZMP people, those people who have Zero Marginal Productivity. What should they be paid?

the answer is obvious, set the minimum wage high enough so that the ZMP will vote for Democrats.

Yeah. Why not just pay them 2 bucks an hour if that's what their "worth"? Kind of sad when you have people talking like this. There's a reason we have a minimum wage. I'm guessing you want no minimum wage correct? Just let the free market decide? Or maybe go back to slavery? Of course then you'd have to pay for their housing and food.

Reminds me of that dirt bag that owned a grocery store in new haven that was stiffing his employees and paying them less than minimum wage. I guess it's ok since that's what their "worth". The labor department went after him. I hope they throw him in jail.

If you aren't for cradle to grave government handouts, then you must be for slavery!

It's unclear to me how useful it is to pay people a fixed minimum wage even if they aren't worth that much.

How does that accomplish anything? It raises prices for the products and services they are working on, so it depresses demand for those products and services. And it encourages the substitution of capital for labor, like:

Minimum wage is a government handout now?

Well at least people reading this thread can see what the right wing is really like.

If you raise the minimum wage it will destroy jobs. That's what everyone is pointing out but you don't seem to be able to recognize that.

You don't recognize that more government spending will create waste and more debt

Interest payment on debt will cost the state more

More social welfare programs and more promises will add to the future debt

Raising taxes to pay for more debt and more spending will cost more jobs and force more people to leave

You sound like a lot of people from CT BTW

"should never" according to who? The know it all liberals, who think their views are above all, even above the economists, people who understand economics?

Again, your liberal views are based off emotions and your own agenda, which for the most part collides with reality.
