I'm trucker from Tulsa. I will have two day layover in Milldale Ct. I will park 18 wheeler at a truck stop. Thought it be fun to take one day and go to NYC round trip same day on public transportation. Any help on cost where to go etc would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Milldale? You mean, Southington?

You'd need to find a bus or taxi that can bring you to New Haven or Milford and take the Metro North train from there to Grand Central Station.

You could park at the Milford truck stop and get a taxi to the Milford train station. It's a little over 2 miles away.

Taxi will probably be $12 each way and train about $30 round trip. Buy at the machines instead of onboard and pay attention to whether you're boarding at peak hours or not.

Another possibility would be the taking a taxi from Southington, and getting on the Waterbury line in Downtown Waterbury. I must warn, trains are very infrequent on that line, so you would need to plan your trip around the train schedule. You would also need to transfer at Bridgeport. Best bet is to head down to Milford where the truck stop is and go into the City on an express. That way you don't get stranded (trains run non-stop on the main line).
