Our home in Enfield, vacant for a year with daughter watching it and thermostat at 60 averaged $32 for the winter.
Gas heat bill not bad also, our home is a ranch,1200 sq ft.It is a 1958 home updated.Last year for 3-4 months there avg electric with small AC was about $100 give or take.
Not a happy thought moving to CT but necessary.

I was raped by CL-P. When I was fixing the electric panel (house renovation), my meter had to be taken out, I was told by CL-P that I will billed $300 each month until panel fixed and meter intalled, then they will adjusted the bill by actual use or estimated actual use. But 4 months later, I fixed it. Then CL-P only refund $80 a month. But my actual use in the 4 months is way less then $220, I only used it for powering the electric tools and some bulbs when working since nobody lived there. Even after I moved in, my use is about $100 a month. i was trying to talked to them but they did not want to refund more. they just want to take more money from me.

A computer on 24/7 should only add an extra $5-$10 with an 80+ platinum power supply. If you have a prebuilt it probably has 80+ bronze if any 80+ ranking.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm going to look into the unit that mounts to the panel showing electric use. I actually did call the electric company back and they are sending another company out to do an audit so we shall see where that gets me. In a previous comment someone asked about late charges on my bill. Yes there are late charges but its around $6-10. not substantial enough to justify the extreme bills.

Usually it is around $50. I have CL&P. We leave lights on TVs on all night and stuff like that. Maybe because there are only two of us. IDK.
I am impressed! I am also in a 2 person household, 1800 SF house, TV, fridge, normal electronics, etc. and we usually hit about $90/month. This will go to $100/month if we are running AC in the summer.

You use 10 dollars of electric to run the A/C in summer? LOL...you must keep it toasty.

You guys need to look at your bills and look at the price per kw/hr.

Small homes under 1500sq ft should not be paying over $75/month w/o AC turned on.

The most power inefficient devices are your stove top burners, toaster ovens, plasma TV, old light bulbs 60watt+, and old PCs running.

If you have PCs that are more than 3 years old, you may want to upgrade. Each PC can add up to $35/yr in cost many older PCs are over 140 watts for the processor and not very power efficient.

I have 4 x PCs running 24/7, all LED light bulbs, multiple lights around the house that I never turn off such as basement. LED bulbs run 4-7watts/hr.

I use induction cooktop which uses 1500watts but cooks much faster than gas or older electric cooktops.

My electric bill is around $75-80/month for a 1500sq ft house.

It is not central air. I have an in-wall unit and a window unit, both quite efficient at cooling the entire main area of the house (shut doors for unneeded rooms to only cool where necessary). I am an open window kind of person, except when it is 95 degrees and oppressively humid without much evening cool down. So yes, $10 and that is only if it is a hot summer. Some summers I pay $0!

Even though my rates are a lot lower than what the rest of the state pays I'm still about to embark on LED replacements. I already have my outdoor flood sensors replaced with LED versions, now I am going to do a few like our porch light, over the sink, and the lamp we use in the family room. Start small and a little at a time and before you know it I'll have the whole house in LED soft white. I'm pretty psyched to see if it affects the bill.

Cree bulbs are only $3.97 for a 60W equivalent and $9.97 for the pot style we have in the home too. Easy enough to swallow a few each month.

Make sure you upgrade your PC at the cost of $1,000-$2,000 dollars to save $35 a year on electricity.
