I always tease my Dad why he didn't take the boat from Italy to Greenland or something instead of this warm sticky climate here. LOL! I could of been around Ice Bergs! Dad came with my grandmother in the 50s & docked in NYC lived in New Rochelle. Didn't dock at Ellis Island since he and his Dad was a US citizen already. Dad left in the 60s to marry my mom then brought her back here. I'm the only one in the family smart enough to move into CT.

Some of our family settled in Ct. in the late 1600's. It's a very old state. We also had family settle in Vermont (although in the 1700's), Massachusetts, Virginia etc. back in the late 1600's. Not NY, though.

My family ancestral background is Jewish European "Russian/Polish origin". My parents grew up in the boroughs of New York and moved down to Florida.

I did not like the move down to Florida, but also realized how hard it is to settle and raise a family in New York. I found the happy balance of being near major cities and being surrounded by nature ...in Connecticut

Moreover, I am loving the element of Connecticut that is like a shady Glenn style time warp back to the 1960s and 70s because quite honestly, those happy days are worth revisiting (except I strongly support gay rights progress of our time and in going through a time warp would not undo that progress).

I like this state because people are fine traditional but free-spirited all in one. I would like to see the state be more interracial and see more demographic mixing of people of different backgrounds sharing day to day life together.

3/4ths of my family immigrated to NYC area. Both my parents grew up 15 minutes to Manhattan. They moved all over but settled in CT.
