I haven't visited this thread in awhile but is this project approved and moving forward? Are they starting construction later this year?

Did these people ever address who they are expecting to stay at a hotel here? It seems like an odd location.

Why do you think it is odd? The site is right off I-95 in a densely populated and very affluent part of the state. The site is near both the South Norwalk business district and the train station. Norwalk has a lot of businesses and I believe is the second or third largest employment center in the county. It is a great location for a hotel. The only thing is there are a number of other hotels in Norwalk so there is some competition but the developers don't see that as a problem. Jay

yes, very odd location for a hotel
The hotel space is needed on Rt 7 near the Merritt 7 complexes. I hear from remote co-workers it can sometimes difficult to book a room around there when they are in town for business. Some have had to book rooms all the way over on the other side of town at the Holiday Inn near Darien or whatever it's called now.

The "Hotel formerly known as the Doubletree" is once again known as the Doubletree. At least they never changed their name to an unpronounceable symbol like Prince.

I can't picture traveling businessmen wanting to stay at a hotel in the middle of a mall, and with Double Tree one exit away I don't see how I-95 should make a difference. The location itself seems odd because that neighborhood doesn't have many of those types of businesses within a walking distance and this mall isn't going to change that. What is the destination of potential hotel guests? Like Raider said, Merritt 7 makes more sense then here.
