That's very true. Yet how else can you do it? I mean you can't just go and live 6 months somewhere, then another place, then another place. The only real way is to visit, maybe in the worst time of the year for locals, such visiting NC in July, drive out on rush hour, go to local clubs, grocery markets, etc etc.

Then of course research.

Yep, South Carolina thread's big post is about new jobs...from new Walmart supercenters that are coming to town to add business. Those jobs. Not enough Walmart jobs here. They pay a nice $20,000/year. How can I help you?

I have said this before. We need to focus on job creating in Connecticut, but we don't have to copy the Southeast to create jobs. We should focus on supporting the areas where we have a competitive edge in education and training and not sell ourselves short to walmart parking lots

ANDERSON, South Carolina – "Project Kudzu," which once seemed wilting, has taken root and is spreading out along South Carolina's business landscape. Auto-component powerhouse Robert Bosch (www.boschusa.com) has disclosed that it will undertake a $200-million expansion of its plant in Anderson, South Carolina (www.cityofandersonsc.com). The announcement came about a month after a premature public leak had seemingly put the project on very precarious footing.
The expansion, company officials said, will add 200 jobs at Bosch's Anderson plant, which currently employs 1,400 workers. The $200-million Palmetto State investment, which will be meted out over eight to 10 years, will double Bosch's previous total capital investment at the Anderson plant.

I don't know about all of South Carolina, but Charleston is booming. It is, or slightly less, COL in that area. It's a city so the COL is more, but once you get into the outskirts such as Goose Creek, Summerville, Moncks Corner, Awendaw they become more reasonable.

This is a project http://charlestonhorizon.com/horizon...ct-foundation/ is focusing on research, medical, scientific and educational sectors. All very well paying jobs especially in that area.

Young people see this type of growth in a great City like Charleston and leave CT to check it out. CT needs something like this to attract/keep the human capital we have in this State. I bet you throw a project like this in Hartford it will create a boom.

Not so much a source but know that jobs in South Carolina pay low, the best with those Boeing jobs there are about $17.00/hr and that's not with all of the jobs with that company, I've also read that a HVAC with many years of experience getting just $10.00/hour on CD.
