So I am currently under contract on a house in Orange, we should close sometime mid-July a foreclosure which we are getting a great deal on! The only issue I am having to wrap my head around is Optimum...

We are moving from West Haven where we at first had UVerse and then DirecTV which we were happy with both services. So now with moving to Orange UVerse is not available for TV and since our yard has lots of trees I don't feel like dealing with the Signal Issues of DirecTV.

So with that what should we expect price and service wise from Optimum? Their website isn't too user friendly so that makes me concerned about the overall customer "experience"

Price-wise it is way too high, but the service has always been very prompt and helpful.

Congrats and nice find on the foreclosure. I have DirecTV for TV and Optimum for internet. Have not changed since early 2000s for a reason. Awesome customer service and fastest internet speeds.

Whats great is because I've been "loyal" they always throw in freebees and "special" deals for me.

Definitely get Optimum. I do a lot of multitasking radar looping, stock streaming, video watching, and email sharing and I am satisfied with Optimum.

You can also look into the 3 package deal they usually have for Phone/TV/Internet then cancel when prices go back to regular price after a year. The internet is $1.80 a day ($54/mth). Nothing to complain about for its speeds.

As far as DirecTV. I'm in the woods with trees everywhere. I don't know the setup there but I can recommend simply pruning the angle the Satellite needs and whalah. DirecTV done.

Unless its your neighbors trees, then you're screwed. lol

I haven't had Optimum TV in years but when I did the set top box was atrocious, and I've heard it isn't any better now.

The Internet is crazy fast though.

Im in Fairfield, and I use Xfinity X1 Double Play, I get ~200 channels with ~100Mbps download speeds (still not Google Fiber ). IME, Xfinity is faster than Optimum and I pay $90 a month.

Also, Comcast-Xfinity scored #1 in this rating list.

The X1 is 105...not 107 . Xfinity has a better TV cablebox also IME.

Don't forget also, in you are using wireless connection, you probably won't get the fastest speed. To get the fastest, use wired ethernet hooked up to an RJ45 port.
