My question is, in your honest opinion, would Connecticut grow by leaps and bounds if a new state legislature and governor were to take on drastic reforms

Such as eliminate the entire state income tax,
Eliminate the gasoline taxes,
Close parks, discontinue educational services,
Cut program after program
Merge town fire and police to merge into one center responsible for services to 2 or more towns

Deregulate all things that are regulated more in CT than Indiana

Would this create a boom? Or would all this just hurt the state

In my opinion I would say taxes up to a certain point are not a bad thing as long as that money is used to better the lives of the people and their communities.

Robbing people blind I would say is unacceptable and I would also say that taxes can hinder a state when they become so astronomically high that businesses begin to leave and take it's revenues and job creation along with them.

I can tell you that this next election for the presidency I will be looking for an independent, pro-America, gun toting conservative.

I hope that the candidate is not heavily influenced by party or corporate campaign funding, and I'll be looking to see if this person is a true patriot by judging his/her prior service military experience.

Eliminating many taxes would lower the quality of life of those in Connecticut-- property taxes are the biggest problem here- and they are high because of health care costs to local town and city employees. When the CEO of Cigna makes over 11 million dollars a year- taxes are raised for his salary increase as well as other officers in that corporation.

Reducing health care costs would lower property taxes. As long as our health care is in the hands of for profit companies- taxes here will continue to rise. Of course the cost of living goes up on everything- but this issue alone is not discussed here since we have a high number employed in the health insurance industry.

The state income tax is about 'average' compared to other states. The Gas tax is too high. We have an aging infrastructure here that is vulnerable to the increasing extreme climate. Just my take.

Malloy is 50-50 to lose to Foley right now. However, I don't see Republicans taking over both houses in the state legislature any time soon.

The state house and senate will not go republican. Guaranteed.
Regarding governor -- preceding this current dope in office, we had a stretch of 16 years of republican governors and nothing awful happened. I think you confuse staunch conservatism Vs. the variety of republicans you typically find in the Northeast. They are a different breed. (similar to the difference found between the uber liberal, socialist leaning, democratic elites found here in the northeast and west coast VS. the blue dog variety you can find in other parts of the country.). The difference in both instances IMO is moderation and reasonableness.
I'm sorry It didn't work out for Boughton -- I like him. But I continue to hope Malloy is defeated miserably, and I will be voting for Foley if for no other reason than to make that happen.

I like Boughton -- maybe it's because I live in a neighboring town to Danbury and have seen good things happening there.
Anyway, I will be voting against Malloy in November -- For whoever his opponent may be. And I think that candidate will be Foley.

Yep!

If Malloy is back in office I fear that that state will not get worse but stay stagnant which is just as bad.

None of those things would ever happen. My life hasn't changed one iota under Malloy, or Rell. I still go to work, run my business and spend my time with family and friends.
