Litchfield is getting some dough... when I read the article, I was sure he would pick Greenwich.

Anderson Cooper buys multi-million dollar Connecticut home

Anderson Cooper and his partner, Benjamin Maisani, will be relaxing in historic splendor in Connecticut’s affluent Litchfield County this summer. Multiple sources tell us the CNN anchor has splashed out on a massive, 10,127-square-foot Tudor revival stone mansion, called Rye House, for the mid-to-high seven figures.

The tony estate — sold by Karen Shaw, a former Miss Connecticut who starred on “Dallas” and “The A Team,” and her husband, Marc — was built in 1908 and designed by Wilson Eyre, a founder of House & Garden magazine. The home includes an Olympic-sized swimming pool and tennis court, and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Its 18 rooms feature original chestnut wood paneling, limestone fireplaces and a hand-carved marble staircase. There’s also a private four-bedroom guest wing. The 280-acre grounds boast Japanese pagoda trees, wisteria, magnolias, a walkway with stone pillars and a grape arbor.

Litchfield County has had dough for as long as I could remember. A ton of celebrities live quietly up there. Great area for a summer home.

That guy is so hit or miss. Sometimes he produces high quality journalism, other times you can tell he's just being a network puppet.

At least the guy has some balls though. Seen him in some pretty nasty countries during some pretty nasty events surrounded by people who probably don't care all that much about the lives of infidel journalists. Kudos. Now if he would just have the same stones with his boss....

Maybe he'll be weekending it. He's not the first celeb to have a home in Litchfield County.

Sounds fabulous. What's not to love about Litchfield County? Unless of course you're consumed with class envy.
Real Estate must be the late in life career choice for aging ingenues.

Oscar de la Renta has an estate in Kent. Isn't that in Litchfield County too?

No neighbors = Love.

I think I see the grapevines although it looks like a farm with crops in the front yard. lol Actually that might just be the mowing.

That's one long driveway if its the home at the top.

The window A/C units are a nice touch! Perks of a century+ old house.
