Like how California, Texas, and New York have. The main forum, then child forums for Orange County, SF Bay Area, NYC, Buffalo, etc. Ever plan on that?

I've only been on this forum for like 6 months and seen this discussed 2 or 3 times already.

The consensus was that subforums are not necessary because of the relatively low volume of regionally specific topics. Also, the state being so small means discussions about hartford area could be just as relevant to someone near New Haven (ex restaurants, services, housing options etc). Unlike say, Texas, where Dallas and Austin are like 6 hours apart and thus more regionally segregated.

At most, there is a higher rate of FFC related threads on here, but adding a FFC subforum would add more confusion and moderator effort than function.

Not going to happen, and has been discussed. State is too small.

Well, according to this link, in 2007 they had child forums. I found it in a thread from Janurary 2014. They dropped the child forums?

Yeah, before my time - but apparently it did not work well. Closing this thread now...

I can address this question. Back in 2007, City-Data tried to open a couple of "Child" forums, specifically relating to Fairfield and Hartford Counties. We found that there was a lot of cross posting between forums and that the main forum was not used enough. Given the size of our state and the posts we received, it was decided to go back to just one forum for the entire state. I do not see a need to change that. JayCT, Moderator
