Any places we should stop? Are there rest areas on the highways?

If you're route is 84/90/290/495/95, there will be several on-highway rest stops in all states and many exits where you'll easily find food, gas or a restroom. Some rest stops will just be restrooms (CT), NH will have the liquor store/restroom stop on their short stretch of 95, and others, like on 90 in MA or 95 in ME, will be full service with gas, restrooms, and fast food options.

Edited to add: what kind of stops are you looking for on the way? Food? Day trip type stuff?

Not really day trip, but if there is something we should see while we're there...
Heading up for a wedding, but thought we could make a stop or two on the way.

Hopefully the OP isn't driving 95 all the way there through BOS and PVD. It is longer and much more traffic laden.

Off of 84 in Vernon there is a pretty good Jewish Deli called Rein's. It does a lot of business from NYC-Boston traffic. I recommend it for a meal.

If you go up 95 east of New Haven, you can stop at the Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods casinos. Just after that is Mystic Seaport & Aquarium.
