New 959 Area Code is coming to Connecticut

That article calls it a third area code. It's actually a fourth. 475 has been in effect for a few years.

Yeah, I noticed that too - 475 is in fairfield county, right? I don't know anyone who has one of those numbers yet. Anyone remember how long ago 475 was introduced?

It's not going to have it's own region? I don't really understand. I've never heard of have 2 area codes mixed together like that.

I think it covers anywhere 203 does. And so far I think it's only been given to cell phones.

The new (959) code is what's known as an overlay. It will be in addition to (860) code. Any customers starting up their phone service after X date will receive the new code.
