I am moving to CT at the end of the month, and am looking for a pet friendly (German Shepherd) short term rental while my house in Australia sells. I have had no luck finding a place that will accept my dog. I am looking in the Norwich/New London area.
Any and all ideas appreciated!

how short term are you seeking and what is your budget? The problem is that you're in the "high season" until the end of August, so a rental that is $1,100 a month from September through April, is going to be $2,400/week in August.

There are a good amount of pet friendly places near Norwich & New London, but most require a one year lease and/or that the pet be under 20 pounds in weight.

Here is an academic year rental in Old Lyme that is pet friendly - Sept to June:

I should have given those details: I'm hoping for under 1500/month, for 3 months max. I am aware of the general limitation to small animals, which is why I said I have had no luck finding a rental that will accept my German Shepherd.

Thank you, but an academic year rental is more than I need.

Try here-although I don't know if they will take a large dog. There is a place in New London on Niles Hill Rd called Pasha Corporate Apartments. They have a website. They have furnished short term rentals. Don't know if they will take a large dog.

There is a small appartment complex in Oakdale called Lakeridge Apartments. They will take a large dog. I believe they have a vacancy. You might be able to talk them into a month to month. Oakdale is in the town of Montville which is between Norwich & New London. They have a website. Look up Lakeridge Apartments-Oakdale.

There are several extended stay motels in the area- that might be an option

Otherwise keep checking on Craigslist-eastern Connecticut

Another thought is to board your dog for a couple of months. John Gagnon's Pet Resort in Colchester
comes well recommended.

As New Jeff said, this is the height of the rental season and German Shepherds are on the insurance banned breeds list.
