Hi,

I have a friend that is looking to rent a place on a lake this summer, where she and her husband can have their dog swim. She asked me if there were anywhere in CT. I am relatively new to the state and I have no idea. Anyone out there have a recommendation? She did a little research online last night and Mystic was one option she came up with.

Thanks in advance.

Mystic is not on a lake, it's on the sound.

If you want a fresh water lake, Lake Waramaug is stunning.

There should be some rentals on Candlewood Lake too, but it's not quite as picturesque and "removed" feeling as Waramaug.

There are other great lakes too which I'm sure you'll get lots of recommendations on.

Bantam Lake is nice too. It all depends on what part of the state you want to be in. There is also Lake Zoar.

In western CT, Bantam, Lillinonah, and Zoar all have a nice "removed" feeling.

There are tons of lakes in CT. Where in the state are you targeting? Western CT? Eastern CT? Is the whole state fair game?

Good overview to CT lakes here: Connecticut Lakes - Vacation Rentals, Lake Homes for Sale - Lakelubbers

Not sure if there are actual rental listings, but at least you can familiarize yourself w/ the various lakes in the state and their general location.

Western CT is well covered above, so I will add some eastern CT lakes:
Amston Lake
Coventry Lake
Lake Williams
Pachaug Pond
Lake Pocotopaug

You can look along the CT river...

Also, always swim in a some CT lakes and in all sounds and rivers after a rainstorm .
