So today I had the interview. The people were nice and everything, but........the place was filthy, poorly lit and very outdated. I was appalled. The hallways were very narrow with dark yellow walls, which drove me crazy. There was a musty smell everywhere, and everything looked like it was from the 80s. The chairs had lint and hair all over them. It was disgusting. No cafeteria either. Every job I ever had, had a full service café.

Contrast that with the place I currently work at now in Stamford, which has beautifully landscaped grounds, nicely lit facilities, reasonably updated interior, and good general cleanliness. And a full service cafeteria with nice old ladies working there, who love to chat with me. And I work 37.5 hours per week, get 5 weeks of vacation, nearly-free healthcare and huge bonuses. And everyone is great to work with.

And why again are you looking to leave your job?

So that I can live somewhere in which I can afford a decent home for under $250K within a half hour commute. If housing was cheaper here, I honestly would be okay with settling here and buying a home.

Now that I've been here for over a year, in my opinion, the best cities/towns that I would like to live in would be Fairfield, Stamford and Norwalk. But they're all extremely expensive.

I feel bad for the young middle class kids of Fairfield County. It is just about impossible to buy a house here without help. If I didn't get a significant down payment on my home from my mom and dad I would not be able to afford a decent home in Fairfield County either. And that was over 15 years ago and now it is much worse.

So you're adding yet another requirement to the milieu? They type of office environment you seek is only available with large companies and generally in cities.

Yet another contradictory requirement that will make it impossible for you to find a situation that will lead to happiness.
