Thank you for responding to my post regarding your post. Your response is really conflicted, though. I just don't think it's fair to ever refer to a town's schools as "white" unless you are speaking statistics. (see previous posts) You are making assumptions that people don't want to send their kids to school with minorities, per your explanation above. That's simply not true, and it's offensive. And a CD moderator condones this thinking?

I said it's "unfortunate" "some" people feel that way. I'm defending minorities, not being offensive to.

Stop manipulating posts andthentheywere3. No one is saying anything offensive. Would you agree Scarsdale or Palo alto are good school districts? Both have considerable non white student population. Not sure how you will spin this though.

You are missing my point, it is not minorities I am defending. Total lack of reading comprehension on this board. I was responding to your initial post below, where you are insulting posters who are asking for good schools, by stating that what they are really (code word) asking for are white schools. I can assure you and everyone else here defending you, that not everyone who asks for great schools are looking for white schools.

The meaning of "code word": "a word or phrase that has a secret meaning or that is used instead of another word or phrase to avoid speaking directly.

Not sure how anyone can not see that the statement is above isn't offensive. Hopefully the OP doesn't think that everyone asking for "great" schools is considered by all here to really be asking for "white" schools. wink-wink

Every school in Trumbull got an "A" mark from Conncan including Trumbull HS and I will put up the link again. So did Masuk HS in Monroe. In fact it seems like all of Monroe schools got an "A" also. You can see it on the map. Some people do prefer to send their kids to a private Catholic HS though even if they are in very good school districts. In fact I have a friend that lived in New Canaan that sent her kids the the Catholic HS in Stamford because she wanted them in a private Catholic school.

I never said anything about the schools being whiter and your post is casting aspersions that I did and I take umbrage to that. This is strictly about the ratings for the schools, the OP asked about very good school systems within a good commuting distance to Westport within a certain budget. BTW, Trumbull HS has a certain number of spots that goes to students from Bridgeport, Stratford and Shelton that excel and I am very proud that my town does that.

Map of Schools | ConnCAN Report Cards

To the OP, I do take the ride from Trumbull to exit 41 in Westport then back roads into East Ave in Norwalk (this is right near the border of Westport) 4X a month so this is not conjecture as I actually take ride myself.
Stay away from ConnCan report cards. Their letter grades are complete crap and their agenda is to stigmatize public schools badly enough so the private sector can take over...and take your tax dollars.

Why do you say this? I've always found ConnCan to be pretty accurate.

All the schools ConnCan gave an "A" to in Trumbull are public schools. That certainly is not stigmatizing the Trumbull public schools but looks like praise. Which school rating site would you recommend. Trumbull schools do well on all the other sites I have seen too.

They should do well on ALL sites. Any site that says otherwise is garbage IMHO. The schools there perform well above the state averages on the Connecticut Mastery and Connecticut Academic Performance Tests. Jay
