He loves the noise of NYC but we need a more calmer setting for the childrens sake. He will hopefully get used to it. Thanks for the help that you guys were able to give me. Milford doesn't seem expensive..
Milford is nice and hate to say it sort of boring they try to do things like the oyster feast with is nice but that downtown is very very slow pace and most times empty on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon and not sure on the other neighborhoods are like but mine is pretty much like a cemetery

That budget is going to be real hard, if not impossible, in Fairfield. Particularly if you want a place that is updated. You may find something in Stratford or Milford but again it will not be big and updated. Remember this is one of the most expensive parts of the country. Jay

^This.

If the train isn't practical, and he needs to drive, i think i would be looking around the Danbury region(New Fairfield/Brookfield/Bethel) instead.

Skip the "updated" qualifier. The budget is impossible, period, in Fairfield at the moment. Everything out there ~$250K and under is a foreclosure/"short sale"/decrepit hellhole. Trust me, i have boots on the ground knowledge.

To meet OP's requirements, and in that budget Poconos would do. Not even Jersey.

If I put in a real estate site - Fairfield, 4 Bedrooms, Max price 250, I get "Your search has resulted in 0 results, please revise your search"

Here are a couple that I have found. None are 4 bedroom. There were a few capes that offered the potential for 4 bedrooms (dining room that could have been a bedroom) but I am not seeing them now. Jay

"LL bath has no CO but owner will obtain. Deck is non compliant covering more than the allowable percentage of the lot but buyer must accept "as is". House needs exterior work but this is not a drive by. 1 car garage and small private yard. Short sale subject to third party approval. Please give as much notice as possible for showings; large family in residence. No showings on Sunday"

This one is a foreclosure that they keep stalling the process on. They list it 2 weeks before law day, bring the offers to Judge Bellas or Thyma and ask for a continuance. And they get it. A 4 month continuance. The name is Yalda, if you want to look up the history of the court proceedings.

This one has potential, but it is very rough. Enjoy ducking your head as you go up and down the stairs to the front door. WTH?

Being marketed as a teardown.

Don't recall the details off the top of my head.
Answers in Green above.

The one on Hibiscus that you're thinking of is totally gutted and only 850SF. For $230K. The one on Apponyi was a foreclosure that was a total wreck for $190K and they're sorting through the multiple bids on the property. The one on Jennings is 720SF foreclosure at $185K. It does have a walk-up attic which would add ~260SF, but the house is very rough and the brick isn't for everybody. Would you like me to bore you some more about entry level homes in Fairfield?

I have been watching this price range in Fairfield. There were more homes on the market in this price range in the Spring. Now it appears to have been picked over. Still it is a very tough price range for a 4 bedroom in Fairfield. Looks like you have been watching it too. Do I see a name change in the future??? Jay
