My experience there was not terrible and was better than both Jesup Hall AND The Whelk. Maybe I went to both on off nights.

Too bad you experienced that. I worked in New Haven for almost 3 years, go there often with family and friends, and never experienced anything like that. The occasional innocuous beggar, but that's been less and less frequent. But that happens in every city. I was just asked in Georgetown DC by a beggar and that's super posh. And I frequented multiple areas for lunch. I knew the very small pocket near the green to ignore and never had an issue.
Single millennials I would assume?

Car break-ins soar in Wilton

Bridgeport 17
Hartford 15
New Haven 4
Waterbury 3
Norwalk, CT 2
New Britain, CT 1
West Haven 1
Stratford 1
East Hartford 1
Stamford, CT 0
New London, CT 0
Meriden, CT 0
Ansonia/Derby 0
Norwich 0
Willimantic 0
Shelton 0
Danbury 0

Stamford has saw 0 homicides almost 7 months of the year there been less than dozen shootings in city this year, Norwalk has 2 homicides this year last year there was only 1. Bridgeport saw record low homicide of 11 last year but shootings indents were 100+ this year it up to 17 homicides it surpassed last year total almost 2015 total of 19. Hartford also record had low homicide count last year it was 14 with 100+ shootings indents this year so far it at 15 already surpassed last year total. New Haven has saw 4 homicides into mid July that historic low the past four years shootings and homicides been downward. Waterbury saw big jump in homicides and shootings last year but it is down this year. New Britain, New London Meriden crime been on downward.

North End of Hartford been pretty bad this year Albany ave corridor, Vine, Enfield St, Tower Ave is like mini war zone there some pockets on South End, Frog Hollow, Asylum Hill, Parkville, New Britain Ave corridor
