Low taxes certainly helped, but I wouldn't give Lauretti a gold star either. He is a crook.

Norwalk proverty rate is not in top 5 in the state.

IMO, he's reactive, not proactive. Which is great when dealing with a crisis, but not so great for governing. It always seems like he's careening from one issue to the next, and I've never gotten the feeling that he has an overarching plan.
Response to Sandy Hook: kneejerk BAD.

Good summary. With Ct relatives, I still follow what is going on, and I was in Ct both before and after Sandy Hook. That was Malloy's high point IMO.

Malloy's failure with the state employees union though set a horrific precedent, since there really was no penalty for them when they dissed his first offer. He failed by not, at minimum, insisting on a reasonably significant percentage of the layoffs not being rescinded. He also failed by not insisting on an outright transition to a 401K only system instead of a defined pension.

I actually would love to see Malloy become mayor of Bridgeport. I think city government is his strength, and he would revive the city. The governorship doesn't seem to be a good political fit for him though.

You referring to the closures in East Rock? My question still stands though, what is taking the Q bridge so long?

It's a huge project. It got a late start but is tracking well.

LOL. Listed under bad was his overly restrictive gun control law. I was referring to his handling of the immediate aftermath, which was excellent.

He should have fired their asses. Like Nixon going to China, he could have done this and been a hero. Instead, it was business as usual. Probably the thing that soured me on him the most.
