I already understand economics. And knowing what I know, I will likely never vote Republican again. Most likely Democrat from now on. We are now in the cancer stage of Reaganomics.

Your economic arguments are approximately as coherent as your relocation/job search arguments.

Wait until he gets a family and tries to buy a home. These things put reality in focus.

I have no interest in having a family, but perhaps getting married one day would be nice. What does buying a home have anything to do with this topic?

With that said, I'm glad that Malloy is going to win.

NEP,

I would love to raise taxes if it solved all of society's problems but I want to tell you about the last very good job I had. My company moved down south because all the various taxes (the total tax burden) and cost of living was too high here in CT. I have never come close to making the kind of money I did at that large corporation. I know lots of people who are still being laid off in CT because companies are leaving.

Even though I would have loved to give more money in the form of taxes to cure societies ills I can not longer do that because I lost my very good job. I no longer have the kind of disposal income I once did. That is on a state level but the same is happening to manufacturing on a national level. Even Bill Clinton advocates for lower taxes on corporations. Did you know that Canada which is considered more socialist than the US has lower corporate taxes than the US. I have relatives in Canada and I can tell you the middle class is fairing much better in Canada.

Taxation is all a fine balance.

IMO with that great tax increase by Malloy things are not going well in CT right now.

If Malloy wins I bet you will see more companies looking to move. Not only will companies taxes increase but the moral of the State will decline and finding people (good employees) will be difficult.

The COL will raise and Neps bonus will be cut. Since the company will have to pay more tax at every level he will only get $5,000 bonus. Once it hits his wallet he'll get the point. No point in arguing in about 6 months he'll come around.

pS- connecticut was rated the least "giving" state in the country. Wonder why?!

New Hampshire is actually the least giving state assuming you are talking about the annual study by the Chronicle of Philanthropy. Overall, the New England states have the lowest rate of giving historically but this is generally attributed to low church attendance since tithing is included in the study.

One could certainly argue that New Englanders give less because our tax burden is high. But given NH has, as far as I know, the lowest tax burden in the region with no sales or income tax I think the low giving is less a result of the taxes we pay and more a result of other regions religious giving.

Because Connecticut is one of the most secular states in the nation.

Not true. 99% of my company's business operations are outside the U.S., with just an office in Stamford, CT. We only pay an effective tax rate of 14% or so, and the CEO just told us that the bonus pool for 2015 is looking to be "extraordinary." I can't wait for my bonus payment in just five months, if I'm still there. It's 20% of my annual salary.

Even so, your assertion that Malloy will raise taxes is typical conservative fear mongering, and pure speculation at this point.
