Ways that New Haven sucks in particular:

Have to pay meters until 9 PM every day except Sundays.
City garage parking is at least twice as expensive as street meters.
Parking lots are getting redeveloped into apartments.
No free parking options anywhere near green.

I use my bank card with the Mastercard logo on it? No bill to pay...just withdraws.

Also, the New Haven parking meters do have an option to pay by calling a phone number, if you don't have a smart phone.
I've seen pay stations over by the Yale ice rink. That's about it.

I limit my visits to New Haven now. Their parking authority is run by corrupt crooks, much like the rest of the city. It's unfortunate, because otherwise it's a fine place to dine.

I don't want to charge .25 cents via a credit card. Also, not everyone has a credit card. It seems silly they don't accept dollar bills since that is the dominate small currency. If the dollar coin was more common that would be fine. Hard to find these dollar coins - I even asked at my bank and they didn't have any.

The parking pay boxes I saw were next to Hartford Hospital. What's funny is no one was using them. That block of parking was basically empty. The next block were street parking was free was almost full.

Why don't you want to charge 25 cents to a credit card? What difference does it make to you if the charge is 25 cents or 25 dollars?

The min. payment on a credit card on the meters is $1.
