Can anyone tell me about Fairfield Ct. The community and the schools. Also about the commute to NYC. Thankyou.

Fairfield is a nice town- great schools and local amenities. Very expensive for housing. Commute to NYC via metro north about an hour.

Thank you. Is Southport about the same? We were originally looking in Old Greenwich and Riverside. It seems that you get more for your money in Fairfield. We do not want more than an hour commute to NYC.

Southport is very expensive-700K buys not much-Old Greenwich is more.

It would be over an hour driving into the city from Fairfield. I-95 is horrible as is the parking situation at all of the train stations.

Are all the train stations the same? How is the parking situtation?

All of them are bad. They have about 2-3 year waiting listings for a parking permit. They are even building a new one in Fairfield, but that won't really do much. You should check out the mid/northern part of the county. You get a lot more for you money.

If you are looking for town with about 20-30k, I would suggest Ridgefield, Wilton,New Fairfield and Brookfield. IF you want a more city like atmosphere, Danbury (75,000). For a small town, Redding, Easton and Weston. I am a realtor in the area.

We are looking for an hour or less commute. Parking for the train is important. We would like a 4 bedroom home.
