"Six states lost population between July 1, 2013, and July 1, 2014: Illinois (9,972 or -0.08 percent), West Virginia (3,269 or -0.18 percent), Connecticut (2,664 or -0.07 percent), New Mexico (1,323 or -0.06 percent, Alaska (527 or -0.07 percent) and Vermont (293 or -0.05 percent)."

Florida Passes New York to Become Nation's Third Most Populous State

Anyone surprised - all six states are run by rabid liberals.

I wouldn't consider Alaska ... nor West Virginia of late as being liberal .

These numbers are very small, I don't think it has anything to do with rabid liberals in CT. The change in population could be a result of more deaths vs births as well for the year.

If the change was 10% that would be significant.

How is Michigan not on that list?

In the full data, Michigan is #10, at 0.11% increase.

It's a pretty weird thing to rank states on, since there are so many factors involved. For instance, South Dakota is high because of oil, while Florida and Nevada are high because of retirees, and other states may be high because of high birth rates in low income people.

Blaming it on rabid liberal governors is pretty funny though.

That's fine with me.

With Connecticut on the fast track to success I will have a better chance of getting a better job once all the companies move here.

Basically we just cut some fat off our bones. No big deal.

Meanwhile every single town in Fairfield County rose in population from 2010-2013.

Hartford, Fairfield and New London are the only counties with an increase

The link to the article is here:

Citizens pick sunshine Florida surpasses New York as third most populous state | FOX CT

CT lost 2,664 people from 2013 to 2014. That's a decrease of 0.07%. Very insignificant.

With that said, I still think CT is a better state and place to live. Governor Malloy is better than Governor Rick Scott, any day.

But the population loss has nothing to do with politics, as conservatives want people to believe. It has to do with emerging RETIREES of the baby boomer generation. Plain and simple.

I agree with you I think most Northeast states lose the older population to Florida, thats why Florida just passed NY in population. Every person in my family ever retirees to Florida, they love it in Florida.. not sure why they all love. I like Florida but everyone in my family that is retired loves it so much.
