I was born and raised up north and sometimes just miss home. I've been in the south for a long time now and really not sure if I could be a northerner again, but I do miss it up there and I either need to move back or just visit more.

Hey when you were down here did you visit Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden? It's really nice they light the place up at Christmas and Bush Gardens Europe does a Christmas Town and down in Norfolk they light up the Navy Ships and stuff, or at least they used to. There is a lot of things to do around here, you could have also visited DC and saw the WhiteHouse Christmas Tree.

How did you get used to all the southern accents, religious people, conservatives, etc?
People adapt over time. I was born and raised a Yankee myself and many years later I even say ya'll now, never thought I would but I do still won't try grits though, have to draw the line somewhere.

This would not apply in Neps case but you get some of those cute southern girls with their drawl, cow girl boots and blue jeans and you realize how many beautiful women there are in the United States, in all regions, north, south, east and west.

The world is a big place and you have to find happiness, affordability, and what feels like home.

No, I didn't go there. I went to Short Pump Mall and Jamestown and a few other shopping/dining places. The Jamestown area was nice!

Short Pump is popular, Williams Sonoma and Crate and Barrel are good stores I buy stuff from mainly cause I like to cook and cooking just like mechanics requires quality tools and good spices only found at higher end cooking stores.

Johnny Rockets is a fun place to get a hamburger that's also in that shopping center as well as the movie theater and the Godiva chocolate store that the wife likes, also Kays Jewelers which I've been a customer forever at that place, I boygh myself a military watch and the wifes engagement ring from there years ago.

Richmond is a weekend thing for us when the USA-BMX series starts back, every Sunday unless rained out we're racing the track at Gilles Park, pack a cooler, run some motos, get a trophy, sometimes will stop for an early dinner sometimes cook at home, we're usually back by 5-530.

This poster has a history of stretching the truth to meet his needs. Check out a January 2014 post in the relationships forum of CD, for instance.

To be on topic, I would say that this list is ridiculous. CT attracts a lot of top talent even today.

Connecticut is no different then any other state. Every state has expensive areas, every state has college educated, skilled trades, low income jobs, mid income jobs, high income jobs, black people, white people, cities and small towns.

The only negative to Connecticut is that it is taxed to death and it run by blue-state liberals who are not nor ever been good at job creation and being tax friendly in order to attract new business, socialism doesn't work, Connecticut, New York, and the rest of ya'll up there need to abanden the idea.

Sigh.

As opposed to Kansas which is being run by solid, conservative principals and is booming economically, right?
Oh, wait....

If you think Connecticut is socialist, I'd invite you to learn the definition of the word. We're home to hedge funds and insurance companies.. Surly, nothing more socialist than that, right...

We can't "abanden" an idea we don't employ.
