Do you already have jobs in New York lined up? Have you considered other towns/cities in Connecticut? It would be very hard to go from a town of 7,000 to anywhere in the New York metropolitan area, even Connecticut. Stamford is a small city but there is definitely a big city vibe to it. Even towns like Greenwich or Darien are a lot bigger. I am not sure he is going to like it.

May I suggest looking in the Hartford or New Haven areas for jobs instead. That way you could live in a quieter area not far from a city and you can visit New York when you want. Jay

Can you find anything for under $2,000 a month there, though? Stamford probably, but I don't know about Greenwich.

I am grew up in Stamford and I took the train into NYC to go to school. I am a petite female and I am aware of the fact that I am an easier target because of my small size and gender. Even so I always felt OK going out of the Stamford train station during the day during rush hour. If I had night classes I would go to the Noroton Station and park if I were coming home late at night. Noroton in a section of Darien and it is VERY safe.

I see you are from a city of 300,000 so you are probably savvy about detecting and being aware of danger so you would be just fine in Stamford. If you are a young couple I think you would enjoy what Stamford has to over in way of fun and entertainment. My husband and I and all our friends always had a good time in Stamford in our youth. I am young at heart so I still have a good time in downtown Stamford.

Here is a basic tip if you are looking for an apartment in Stamford. Look north of I-95 for an apartment as the areas of Stamford below the thruway are not the greatest except for the Cove and Shippan areas near the water.
