I plan to get back to work next week and have to leave my 16 months old at the day care. She's been with me since birth and I am dreading the fact that we'll be apart for several hours daily. I'll appreciate any advice on how to make a smooth transission. Also, please provide your experiences on "Learning Experience" or "Kindercare" daycare centers if you have any. I will finalize on either of these. Thanks.

I understand your concerns. This is normal for almost every working mother. My kids were in daycare from infancy too and turned out just fine. They are certainly as well adjusted and close to us as any of their friends whose mothers stayed home with them (actually probably better). I think it will be harder on you than it will on your child but do not worry, it will be fine. I can't comment on either of the places mentioned. Where are they located? Kindercare has multiple locations. Jay

Kindercare is horrible. Period. My wife has been in the industry for 20 years, and a director for 11. She lasted about 5 months before she left the company because of incompetency. She now works for one of the best centers in the nation and has for over 5 years.

I cant' comment on the other.

I have had great experience with Kindercare and would highly recommend them. They are organized and have fun activities for the kids. I get detailed reports each day, the employees know me by name (all of them, within the first week), and our son is very happy when we pick him up.

Those are bare minimum things one would HOPE to have. What about the curriculum? Did you check to see if there are violations on hand with the state for your particular center?

Curriculum isn't a big concern give my child is 11 months old and is inly there a day and a half a week. I did not look into violations, just looked up reviews and complaints online. Where should I go to look into violations? I don't see the business even listed with bbb.

My friend worked in Kindercare in another state and hated it. It's a big corporate model with chains all over the nation. I think they have trouble keeping staff.

Where does she work now? I'll be looking into daycare in the fall. Mainly interested in a program that does half-days.
