Hello all. I'm new to norwalk and am looking for reasonably priced butchers to buy meat from near me. I'm tired of spending tons of money in the local supermarkets . Any suggestions?

I am new to the area too, but I did find Craft Butchery in Westport. Haven't gone to them yet but they specialize in local organic & pasture raised meats. Doubtful they would be much if any cheaper than the supermarket. I've been through Stew Leonards a few times and only buy the "Stews Naked" meats on sale.

I doubt you will find a local butcher with cheaper meat prices than a supermarket like Shoprite, particularly in Fairfield County. You might check out a buyers club store like BJ's or Costco. Jay

The closest place with good meat at a reasonable price would be Caraluzzi's in Georgetown.

If you don't mind traveling a bit, Ferraro's in New Haven is pretty impressive.

I've always found butchers more expensive than supermarkets. I'm fortunate to live in a town that has both, and I always spend extra to buy my meats at the butcher -- it's worth it to me. Even growing up in the city, where butchers were actually more common than supermarkets were, it would cost more there too.

Greenwich Prime Meats or Fairway in Stamford.

You don't want to go cheap when buying meat or fish, IMO...

I have to hesitate on recommending Fairway. They aren't consistent. IMHO.

Fairway Stamford has a great cheese selection. Rest of product is nice, but nothing to write home about IMO.

Saugatuck Craft Butchery is good!

A&S Italian Deli gets some nice cuts of meat in, too...they make all their own sausage etc on premise, as well.
