I do not know the actual law regarding children in public schools. Does anyone know the actual law?

children must be immunized to attend public schools, but there are exceptions for medical reasons (medical professional must sign off) and also religious grounds (no current documentation needed, but this may change)

It would be very hard to require 'documentation' to prove that religious beliefs conflict with immunizations. What's the burden of proof? Who's the judge?

I think it's more likely that the religious exemption would be removed altogether. However, many would consider this to be in violation of our fourth and fifth amendment rights so that could result in a slew of new lawsuits.

well, the number of religious exemptions has skyrocketed over the past 10-15 years. I would think you're probably correct that the religious exemption would probably be eliminated.

Right, but that would violate our constitutional rights. Therein which lies the problem.

It's not limited to religious exemptions -- but "personal beliefs". I used to work with a lawyer who was a die hard vegan (to the point she wouldn't consume honey because she viewed it as a by-product of "bee slavery.") She did not vaccinate her children because either the vaccines contained trace amounts of animal by-products, or because the companies who produced the vaccines were known to participate in animal testing. BTW, They all fall into one of these 2 categories and therefore she did not participate at all. She and her children live in CT, and her childrendo go to CT public schools. Ridiculous...

Personal belief exemptions should be ended.

Religious exemptions should be a high burden of proof. You can't just start your own religion and attribute things to it that go against passed laws. You can't start a religion that says it's okay to kill people so outlawing killing for you personally violates your constitutional rights. I'm not saying someone is doing that, but wishy-washyness on the matter invites conversations about boundaries. There are always and will always be boundaries.

Abide by the laws and shut up, or lobby your fellow citizens to get the laws changed... the end.

It is time to change the law because of such beliefs. ^^

Absolutely. No vaccinations, no public school period.

How so? Constitutional rights are constrained all the time. Behavior under the guise of "religion" which puts others at risk can be limited by the state.
