We can likely afford only a condo (up to $300K), unless decent 3BR homes go for less than 400K but I doubt that I guess.
Thanks for your help

There really aren't any Jewish "communities" in Fairfield County. My best guess for the largest concentration of Jewish families would probably be within a mile radius of the Strawberry Hill area of Stamford. You would find modest condo's in your range. A "decent" SFH would be difficult, but i guess possible.

The northern part of Norwalk (i.e. near and north of the Merritt) has a decent sized Jewish community (though smaller than Stamford or Greenwich) but it's also the most expensive part of town.

Yes, Fairfield has a sizable Jewish population. It is sort of centered on the Stratfield and Fairfield Woods neighborhoods where there are a couple of synagogues as well as being near synagogues in neighboring Bridgeport. Jay

A question for the Fairfield,CT residents - do you know what portion of the student body is Jewish in the various elementary schools in Fairfield; e.g. Sherman, Mill Hill, Burr, Dwight, Jennings, Stratfield & North Stratfield?

I'm reading that the Jewish population is more concentrated in Stratfield (Jennings, Stratfield & No. Stratfield schools), but is there a meaningful difference between the percentages in Stratfield and the other schools above?

Thanks!

I don't think there is any definitive information on the percentage of Jewish students in any of the schools. It is really not information that the schools commonly keep. Jay

Thanks, JayCT. Even if not from official records or percentage-wise, do you or anyone else on this chain know what the social environment or tolerance level is like for Jewish kids in the non-Stratfield / Jennings / No. Stratfield elementary schools? Just trying to get a sense of whether the non-Stratfield neighborhoods are also ethnically / religiously diverse or not?

From my knowledge of the other schools in town, there are Jewish children in all of them. It is just that Stratfield, North Stratfield and Jennings serve portions of town with the highest percentage of Jewish people. I do not think it will be an issue. Jay

I agree with Jay. We live in Stratfield and most of our Jewish friends live on this side of town, but I have Jewish friends who live by the beach as well. I don't think religious tolerance at any of the schools would be an issue AT ALL. In fact, we're considering putting our home on the market (to move to a larger home in Fairfield) and the Jewish/non-Jewish issue hadn't even crossed my mind.

IMO it's a homogenous town but a tolerant one.
