Looking at relocating from Long Island to possibly Shelton, Milford or Woodbridge areas. Do any of these have a main street town area? Want something with a town feel, not a bunch of strip malls.

Also what about areas right on the water in Milford? Are they mostly summer homes?

thanks!

Shelton and Milford have downtowns. Milford's is far nicer. Shelton is a great town but the downtown is lacking.

Woodbridge has nothing like that, it's mostly rural with a small strip of commercial near New Haven.

Milford water areas are decently year round, but a healthy dose of summer residents too. They are far more active in the warm months, obviously. Summer in Milford is pretty fun.

Agree, downtown Milford is 1000x nicer than downtown Shelton, though the Post Rd is full of strip malls but so what, it's the Post Rd.
Know a couple of people on the water there, was in the the Woodmont section for the 4th of July, great time even though it rained. I believe it's more full time residents than just summer homes.

Woodmont around the 4th of July is magical. Love it.

Leaning towards Shelton. What s the most desirable part? If you had up to $900k to spend?

thanks!

I don't think there are any areas of Shelton that are that bad, and with a $900,000 budget, you can pick and choose what you want in Shelton.

Huntington or White Hills are the nicer sections of Shelton. Though with that kind of money you may want to consider an even more desirable town like Fairfield or Trumbull. JMHO, Jay

I agree with Jay. 900k is way overkill for Shelton. You could save money and spend 500-600 and have a really nice, big house.

Fairfield is a great option at that price. And you get one of the nicest downtowns in CT, plus the water which you seem interested in. I think you will be really disappointed in Shelton's downtown if that's an important factor.

You could also afford waterfront or water view in Milford (just make sure to check flood zones and look for homes that a bit more elevated from the water) if the shore interests you.

Woodbridge is a good town to look in the 800-900 range too.

I wouldn't spend that much in Shelton. It wouldn't be a great investment.

Right, at $900,000 the OP would be at the very top of the Shelton real estate market. For a town like Fairfield, they would be in the middle and in a much better position for resale in the future. I would even spend that much in Milford (maybe on or very near the beach) before spending that in Shelton. JMHO, Jay

I don't think that price even exists in Shelton. That might be near the top for Trumbull, maybe directly on Pinewood lake.
That money would be more sensibly spent on waterfront areas (LI Sound) or Westport/Wilton, atleast for quicker resale purposes.
