We are hoping to move in the very near future from Eastern Long Island to Oakville. We found a house that suits us on Eddy Street. We haven't decided yet. We are retired and want to be near to our grandkids. Our children live near Oxford and aren't too thrilled with Watertown. They feel it's too remote and nothing much there, but I don't think they are that familiar with this area.

Watertown is generally a safe town. It is a little removed from I-84 but Oakville is right off Route 8. There are some stores and restaurants in Watertown but not as much nearby as you likely had on Long Island. Major shopping would be done in Waterbury which has a major mall. I cannot comment on the particular street you mention but wonder if you have looked at other communities that would offer more like Danbury or some of the smaller towns in and around Oxford. I also wonder if you should consider renting in the area first to get a better feel for the area and then decide where to buy. Jay
