I heard they were cheaply built.

The rent doesn't make sense - for that price, one can live in a non-sketch neighbourhood.

3000-4000 a month to live on HENRY ST?

I pity and fear for the safety of these young professionals moving there from NY or NJ or where ever they are coming from, who clearly don't know the area and are believing the hype fed to them by their Realtor.

This is an extremely DANGEROUS area.

Avoid it at all costs.

I don't think anyone could call that area "dangerous". Like any urban area, you have to be careful and people from New York City or urban New Jersey know that. Jay

You don't think henry st, garden st, or pulaski/washington blvd are dangerous? How long have you lived in Stamford?

How would you describe Myano lane?

i dk about 3000-4000 a month. i think my friends there pay $1850-1900 or so for a 1br.

that said, i do think the general area is a little bit suspect, but with the new Fairway there and all of the bars, etc. it doesn't seem too bad?

i don't know, i've only visited a few times...

That 1BR is probably 600sq ft.....yes, for urban cities like NYC or LA or Stamford I suppose that's fine...but that is tiny and not worth it IMHO.

I've lived in Stamford for 28 of my 31 yrs (the other 3 I lived in Europe) and I KNOW the areas well and the types of people who live there. These are people who are being squeezed further and further into desperation. Seeing these over priced luxury lofts and buildings go up across your street, while you are living on 12k per year, is pushing these people to the limits. The level of violence going around Stamford lately is out of control, and scary.

I live in what's traditionally a good area of Stamford. About 3-4 blocks from the downtown area coming through strawberry hill.

Recently there was a murder downtown stamford, near the mcdonalds. There are constant shoot outs between spruce st, myano lane, henry st....rapes, stabbings, and more shootings on garden st and pacific st....

Last year a woman was mugged/robbed on a Tuesday morning at 8AM on hoyt st....

The only "safe" areas IMHO are N. Stamford....IF you can afford it.

"Constant shoot outs"? How come there is little in the newspaper about it? That area is not the best but it is not in the same league as say Bridgeport's East End or Hartford's North End or Newhallville in New Haven. I think you are pushing it a bit. Jay

The McDonald's murder was a random attack by a mentally disabled individual. I wouldn't call Bedford & Broad dangerous.
