Hey all,
I know of all the attractions in ct for little kids. However my oldest is now 11 and we are taking him out for a fun day and I have no idea where to take him. Most of the museums seem to little kid for him.

It has to be somewhere indoors as the day we are going is supposed to rain.

He likes history and animals/nature and science.

Any reccomendations? We loved the submarine force museum when we went recently and he also enjoys the Pequot but they don't open until May.

If you don't mind a day trip, how about the Intrepid museum in NYC?

Thanks for the suggestion. Can't believe I'd never even heard of it. Unfortunately we don't have a full day to be gone. But this museum will go on my list for when we do.!!!

Perhaps the Bradley Air Museum in Windsor Locks. There's also Mystic Seaport - It's pretty pricey for a family to visit, but you might be able to get discount passes at the library.
The Nautilus submarine museum in Groton is free, and from there you can drive to one of the nearby forts or trail walking at Bluff Point. The forts probably aren't opened yet for the season, but you can walk around outside.

When you do decide to go, your local library will probably have a museum pass as Loriact suggested. Our town library has the Intrepid pass which discounts something like $100 for a family of four, which is a huge savings.

When the weather clears up, here's another fun idea:

The Peabody Museum in New Haven is great. I have to admit I have not yet been to the CT Science Center in Hartford but that is another "science-y" option. For plain old fun, either Flight Trampoline in New Britain or Launch Trampoline in Hartford. Also, Nomads Adventure Quest in South Windsor is a fun indoor place with tons of arcade games, bowling, basketball, rock climbing, billiards, and even bumper cars.

The air museum is cool. If you do anything in Mystic, you can hit the Nautilus on the way up or down too. And when you do the Intrepid, (if your kid is adventurous), take him on the Beast speed boat ride down to the statue. Very fun!!!
