Hi All,

I was just curious what your thoughts are of the neighborhood around Laurel ST and Farmington Ave? I was searching for a studio apartment and found a listing that is frequently advertised on Craigslist. Their studios are advertised for $495 a month, including heat and hot water. The apartment building is on 352 Laurel St in Hartford. That seams relatively inexpensive for a studio apartment. Is there a reason (good or bad) why this building is inexpensive for studio apartments? Would this be a good idea? Thanks everyone for your opinions on this location.

It's cheap for a reason and my gut tells me you should avoid that place. There are some photos online of the building if you search the address. The apts look extremely outdated altho the outside looked OK.

It would be best if you can visit this address in person especially on a Saturday night during warm weather.

It's not the greatest area (I worked on sigourney st/ Farmington ave for years) . The dunkin donuts on the corner would get robbed at least twice a week in the summer. Constant police activity and our equipment would be broken into once a month.

Like Mr. Grompers said its cheap for a reason.

It's cheap for a reason, everyone says the North End is the worst for drugs and crime but those few streets around Farmington, Whitney, Sisson, South of Farmington Ave. Huge drug area, I wouldn't even set foot in the building to view it.
