I go to school in Syracuse, NY, where these pests are more common. I first noticed one in my house in Fairfield county during Easter weekend last month. Since returning home last night from school, I have found two more in my house and my parents say they have never even heard of such bug.
I'm nervous they may have laid eggs on my belongings and I could've brought them home.
Those things are a menace! They found a way inside the home and I was finding them flying around in winter. I had a summer party where the door was constantly being open and I assume they made their way in.....
I found one on the windowsill yesterday. I just picked it up and let it back outside again. As long as they're not flying on my head they don't bother me at all. They're kind of neat looking. Plus they smell like cilantro when they're irritated or when you kill them, and I love the smell of cilantro

I was told....not sure how true it is....if you squash them, the odor attracts more of them

I also just put bugs outside when I find them - even flies! Spiders I let be, since they trap bugs and eat them. Live and let live. I actually was glad to see bugs after this past winter - first some butterflies, then bees, bumblebees, and now flies. Better than winter!
Wasps, earwigs, and ants get smushed in my house. Only the white spiders get smushed in the house, the jumping spiders stay and I name them and they become my kitchen companions when I'm doing the dishes. Any other spiders are forcibly escorted outside, alive and protesting every inch of the way
Please kill the stink bugs. We have been fighting them in our house for 5 years now. They are an invasive species. I use a shop vac with a long pvc pipe connected to reach high up on my house and vacuum them off in the fall when they cover our home.

The 1st time we encountered stink bugs was in Oct 2012, since then each Oct is when they start their "harassment" trying to infiltrate homes. Today I've seen at least 3 on the window screens & when I do I have my trusted 91% alcohol spray bottle handy & spray them on the inside belly & face, they wiggle then freeze then fall to the ground dead. I've noticed they are more apparent if your windows are open cause they're looking for the smallest crack to squeeze thru so you must be vigilant if your windows are open. And please for heavens sake remove any window air conditioners, they will enter your house thru the vents. I read where a person said their family went away for the weekend & when they returned home there were over 4,000 stink bugs in the bedroom where there was a window air conditioner. Nightmare!!
