Waterbury to Bridgeport is much easier. It is a straight shot down Route 8. Waterbury to Hartford requires you to take I-84 which typically has traffic jams in Waterbury and is now undergoing construction.

Definitely Waterbury to Bridgeport. Both are about 30 miles but Route 8 is not as busy as I-84 west of Hartford or I-84 east of Waterbury. Jay

Also in the morning I-84 nearing Hartford has a lot of traffic.
