Just read in this mornings Hartford Courant that the UConn Graduate School of Business will not be moving into the new building on Front Street. Because the school is growing so fast there is just not enough room for the school. So not only has the school has renewed its lease on four floors at 100 Constitution Plaza, it is adding two more floors to the school. That means the building is now 100 percent occupied. With the state moving thousands of employees to the plaza, the new Spectra apartments in the old Sonesta Hotel and the planned conversion of the old Travelers Training Center to a downtown campus for Trinity College, the plaza should really be hoping again. These guys need to walk around this area especially at night. No one is going to pay 200k-500k for a house on the edge of a ghetto. Nor will they pay high rents.

I always thought it was funny that the area surrounding the CT Supreme Court (especially behind it) is a huge ghetto. It's been that way at least since the 1980's and I don't think its going to change ever.

People will buy them. The city tore down a notorious drug infested housing project in the North End by the Spring Grove Cemetery. New housing was built in a completely redeveloped neighborhood and people bought them. Nearly all the new houses are now occupied. If it's close enough to downtown then people will buy them. When those UCONN students head into the new Hartford campus there will be a higher demand for housing in the downtown area.
