As we saw last year ...a warm late fall does not mean a warm winter. In fact these warmer than normal falls only set up winter even better for cold.

I think we're always going to remember that so well mostly because of how historically cold it got in February and the longest deepest snowpack we ever had even into March.

Never in my life did I think the Long Island sound would freeze over so fast! So yeah.. I guess its good December was warm last year. Now I can say, "well remember that winter?" lol

Its fascinating to look back and this chart shows it. I don't think many of us will ever see this again.

Danbury Feb 2015 temps. Only 5 days of the entire month the high was above freezing (32). 3 days the high was 17/18 with a low of -13.

Feb was cold. But to actually see the temps in a graph displayed like this. The departures from normal are just insane.

I know Cam is with me. One of the best months. lol

Nobody alive today experienced a February that cold. Memorable. The highs were near normal lows and the lows were so far below normal. Long Island sound and rivers were freezing over as you were looking at it (exaggeration a bit lol)

With the cold air building in Canada and arctic one wonders if the setup will allow the vortex to get close to us again 2nd half of winter.

Have you seen the above normal snowpack in Quebec?

Yeah.. and Syracuse had historic cold as well. Imagine how cold that was...Syracuse... and Caribou Maine too.

Why cant it happen again? Never say never or cant with weather.
