I'm out west and currently in Santa Fe NM. Woke up to snow falling and 15 degrees. If you want winter head west. Going up to Telluride CO today for some skiing. It's full on winter out west and conditions are epic. Ski Santa Fe has already gotten over 100 inches so far this season.

Happy New Year all!

Little blurb from BOX showing how this incredible December faired in southern New England.

No OKX blurb yet, but Central Park was an incredible 50.8 (old record 44.1 in 2001) 13.3 above normal, BDR ended at 47.2 (old record 41.4 in 2001) 11.8 above normal

You're right, I didn't think about that. In NYC, that 50.8 would actually tie the 9th WARMEST November (yes that includes this year, so before this year it would be EIGHTH), be the 3rd WARMEST March (and only 0.1 degree below #2, which occurred just 4 years ago) and be around 2 degrees below normal for APRIL (so it wouldn't even make the top 10 coldest Aprils). It wouldn't even be the coldest OCTOBER (would tie for 4th)

Here's another interesting graphic BOX posted on Facebook today:

Remarkable ..simple astounding months of weather. Two polar opposites in the same place.

We should return to a normal winter pattern now. Few days higher few days lower.

Observation: Accuweather has its long term stuck on cold and snow events in early February..could be an interesting time period.

I started a storm thread in the weather forum to keep track and updates on the storm next week... still so far out we have no idea what it will do but could be a couple of events.

Ironic as soon as the pattern turns colder we get snowstorm chances? No. Just that we are not in a ridge anymore. Troughs (like what out West experienced so far) bring storms
