Waters off the coast never had a chance to get cold this winter but definitely is cold compared to what the air temp will be. I believe water temps are upper 30s low 40s?

With a SW flow that means Groton should stay colder than Bridgeport and definitely White Plains. . Maybe struggle past 50s there while Bridgeport mid 60s?

Wednesday continues to look as the warmest day of the week

WEDNESDAY WILL BE THE WARMEST DAY AND HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORDS MAY
BE TIED OR EXCEEDED AT A FEW OF THE CLIMATE SITES. TEMPERATURES
WEDNESDAY WILL BE 15 TO 25 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL...ESPECIALLY
INLAND.

HERE ARE THE RECORDS AND FORECAST HIGHS FOR WEDNESDAY...

WEDNESDAY MARCH 9
RECORDS ...... FORECAST HIGH

BRIDGEPORT 60 2002...... 62
ISLIP 64 2000...... 61
LAGUARDIA 75 2000...... 68
KENNEDY 67 1973...... 62
CENTRAL PARK 69 2000...... 69
NEWARK 74 2000...... 70
For those in northern/inland CT, BDL's record is 72 also in 2000. You are right Cambium though that BDR's record was in 2002, not in 2000 as the other places I said wrong on that. Interesting that LaGuardia was as warm as Newark (and much warmer than the others) on that day as usually they are closer to (but a little warmer than) JFK in daytime highs in March/April "heat".

Looking at the differences between 2000 and 2002 for BDR

It's funny.

They hit 60 on March 09, 2002 with clouds around & dewpoints in mid 50s with SSW winds

But they couldn't hit 60 on March 09, 2000 with clear afternoon sunny skies. Dewpoints were lower in the 40s/low 50s. Winds were lighter and variable from all directions.

So we'll have to watch the winds on Wednesday to see if they can breach 60.

Also.. What were the water temps like in 2000 vs 2002. I bet colder in 2000?

I'm going to enjoy the cold while it lasts...

Just my thoughts.. I think this spring/summer is going to be above normal and warm.

Cam- Was it 3 years ago or 4 that we had a summer that was brutal?

2010, 2011, & 2012 were the Top 3 warmest for Bridgeport so take your pick. lol

Might of been 2010 you're thinking of. June & July that year were brutal. Half the month was in the 90s July 2010 for BDL. Hit 102 & 100 as well. The 10 days in the 90s in August as well.

August 2011 was bad but the other months not so hot

July & August were very warm in 2012 but June not as bad

2004 and 2009 summers were the best. 2014 was great too because it was oddly not humid and no heat waves or many hot days.

Clouds just moved in. It was sunny and in the 30s until then. Still sunny in Eastern CT and MA so enjoy the sun and cold!

Flurries and Snow showers around. Maybe another little dusting for us tonight

Wind Chills were in the teens this morning.

Maybe I'm going crazy but I think I'm seeing snake holes on my property. Are they out from hibernation already?!

Just looked back and checked. July 2011 I remember well.. I was camping on the shoreline at Hammonasset during this and I remember it being in the 90s at night still with unbearable humidity and had to sleep in the car with the ac on. haha.

July was one of the hottest months on record for the southern plains region and a heat wave in the mid-Atlantic on July 20-23 broke some long established all-time absolute maximum temperature records. Perhaps the single most astonishing figure was the 108° temperature record set at Newark, NJ on July 22nd. This crushed the former record of 105° (last reached in August 2001). Dulles Airport near Washington D.C. set their all-time record with 105° the same day, as did Hartford, Connecticut with 103°. Trenton, New Jersey tied their all-time record with an amazing 106°, a figure not repeated since the great July 1936 heat wave. Bridgeport and New Haven, Connecticut also tied their all-time heat records with readings of 103° and 101° respectively. Boston’s 103° was just shy of its all-time record of 104° set almost exactly 100 years ago in 1911.

Yeah, crazy. Please don't say "warm nights" again. I almost had a heart attack. That's the worst you step outside for some air and there is none...at night!

There were many hot months in recent years but July 2011 as a whole wasn't as warm as July 2010 or even July 2013.
