I don't even have the words.

I can't even... envision that.

I found out that AP's article on it noted that it actually is NOT the highest Heat Index/Real Feel in history. That apparently occurred in Saudi Arabia back in 2003 with a number of 178! (do not know what the dewpoint was, I think this still may be the first recorded Dew Point of 90)

Correct. The dewpoint was 95 F. Here's the link:

Some stats for July. I am glad I don't live in Newark. LOL

Curious to see how the month of July ranked? Appears that none of our climate sites (Boston, Bradley, Worcester & Providence) made the top 10. However it was a dry month with precip about an inch below normal.

\

July was a very warm and dry month around our region. Check out the graphic below to see how hot it was!

Not really any extremes in July. Pretty boring but we did see a change to a warmer pattern for 2nd half.

Current Climate Summary Maps - Powered by ACIS - High Plains Regional Climate Center

Here's the temp departure from normal for July. I believe the legend is in Celsius. Litchfield and Southern CT were slightly above normal. Most of Maine below normal. Pretty normal though, no extremes.

Check back with this link here for a summary of July 2015 or check out other summaries.

Today: Another hot day with highs in the upper 80s. Low humidity will make it feel nice though. A few afternoon showers/a thunderstorm in a few towns but not much! Any showers will be brief and between noon-6pm.

Tonight: Passing clouds and cool temps. Lows in the upper 50s inland, mid 60s at the shore.

Sunday: Beautiful with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid 80s at the beaches. near 90 inland.

No complaints here. What a great weekend. Hope everyone is enjoying it.

Looks like we cool down a bit next week. Looking forward to those 50's at night next week.

2 noteworthy events coming up.

1. Possible big Fall like storm next weekend. I say all like because we don't get a storm like its showing in the summer coming from the Mid West! GFS and Euro have it.

2. Powerful cold front comes through mid week... We need it.. Only 2 times since July 19th the max temps have been below normal. Ugh. We need those max of 70s back.

Another great link to keep.. this one Daryl from IEM did thanks to me and my idea for it. Have all the OBS and data and color code the max/min departures. He's the best for making it happen!

Just change the station code in the link for other sites.

Great link Cam. This was before my time but impressive numbers back then. Also interesting to note that back then many measurements were manually done by observers hourly. They had to go look at a thermometer and record the temps.

Cam- Any stats on CT on this date? What was Bridgeport, New Haven, and Bradley's high?

Today is the 40th anniversary of one of the hottest days on record across southern New England. Check out some of the high temps from that day in 1975! Do you remember that hot day?

I dont remember it too well (I was 7), but 1975 is not the Aug 2 record high at most of the NYC area stations (it is at EWR and BDR at 98 and 96 respectively) and its not on the OKX list of 100+ days in Central Park, so I think it was at least a little cooler west of eastern CT.

BTW the 104 in Providence was also a RI state record.
