Theres a reason why low humidity is preferred by most... its called "comfortable".
40s tonight in spots?

Quote:
National Weather Service Taunton MA
323 PM EDT SAT JUL 2 2016

.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will bring dry weather through most of next week.
Comfortable days with low humidity this weekend will give way high
pressure, dry and warming weather much of next week with
increasing humidity Thursday through Saturday.

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 AM SUNDAY MORNING/...
Temperatures continue to rise into the upper 70s and low 80s as
dwpts drop back into the mid-upper 40s this afternoon. Overall,
quite comfortable. Other than some CI associated with a weakening
shortwave, the trend will be toward clearing everywhere through
the evening and overnight hours.

Mass fields do all suggest weak enough gradients for decoupling
overnight thanks to the expected clearing. With afternoon dwpts
mainly in the mid-upper 40s, expect lows will make a run into the
upper 40s and low 50s away from the urban areas. Overall a
pleasant early July night.

.SHORT TERM /6 AM SUNDAY MORNING THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT/...
Tomorrow...
The short story? Another beautiful day for the holiday weekend.

I'm running out of bottles. Empty ones that is.

I had to put a frame around this.

4pm Dew points July 2nd?

The bonus is that its in the 70s. I wouldn't mind 90s or 80s with dews in the 40s but it's not passing mid 70s. Amazing

I try not to get too technical with this thread, I don't wanna bore you. But just to keep it simple...

Jet Stream is dipping in the Northeast again. This is the only reason we are getting days like this. It's been dipping almost every week, some lasting more than others. When it dips we get a NW flow and Canadian dry air and are unable to get Hot or Humid.

It's basically crushing the Ridge to the south.

Looking ahead per EURO.. enjoy tomorrow as well. Monday changes to more humid warm weather and lasts 5 days then possible another diving Jet with Canadian High next weekend.

Next rain chance is Friday with the cold front.

Overall... not bad Summer so far! I'll take 5 days of 80s and humid if we can get these breaks!

Amazing Summer of 2016 continues...

Feels like Fall. Upper 50s! Danbury & other areas almost in the 40s! Whoa.

Lets keep those fronts south of NYC.

Have you guys heard of CoCoRaHS? I started a little thread on it but you can read more with link below.

Hopefully we get more people to report their precip and use this system. Interestingly Tolland County has the fastest growing amount of weather observers.

NWS and Meteorologists use the reports that come in through this program.

What's your take on possible rain Monday night during fireworks?

NWS has been going back and forth on this with it and other sources like Accuweather mostly keeping it south. But this morning it looks like it is saying "chance of showers after dark, with (60% north, 70% closer to NYC) chance of rain after 11pm (which would be after fireworks), which is the "worst" forecast I've seen on it so far.

Didn't realize it until you asked. Just checked. Yup.. Storm now showing up.

NAM model says Clouds move in at sunset but rain moves in after 11pm.
Euro says Clouds and Rain move in between 7-11pm Monday
GFS says clouds move in after 11pm. Rain moves in Tuesday morning.

So obviously GFS is slower with the storm.

Gonna have to be some radar watching I guess.

Monday should be dry and partly cloudy during the daytime for
most of the area. The only exception will be parts of the city
and NE NJ where late in the day there could be a shower moving
in. High temperatures mostly in the lower 80s and a little more
humid versus today.

Models are in agreement that low pressure moves over or near the
tri state area late at night into Tuesday morning. Lift from
associated shortwave energy combines with deepening moisture for
the likelihood of rain across the entire area, but primarily
after around midnight for most spots. Elevated CAPE with the lift
could result in a rumble of thunder, mainly after dark. See the
hydrology section below regarding potential rain amounts

Looks like over 1/2" but less than 1 inch possible

Last time I had over 1/4" of rain was June 5th!
Last time I had over 1" of rain was May 30th.

We had much more than a quarter inch during Friday evening's monsoon. Only lasted about 50 minutes but easily dropped 0.75".
