I am not sure why buy around midnight heading from Bridgeport up the Valley it became increasingly muggy. You could literally see the air it was so thick. I would think being by the ocean be more muggy/humid. Any idea the humidity levels for Bridgeport/Waterbury yesterday?

Warm Humid morning. I don't mind as much as a warm humid day, evening, or night.

Forecasts have been raised a bit again. lol

No end in sight either.

With High Pressure to the South, Cold Fronts wont be able to come down OR just be weak and inaffective.

We might make a run for Top 10 warmest Julys now.

Florida....in the 70s. And so are we.

Bridgeport at 80° at 6am. Did NYC drop below 80?

Dews in the 60s.

I'll post the rain total map later on.

My car does have AC, it was converted from R12 before I bought it and it works great when charged!! But I use it so rarely that I got tired of charging it for a couple of uses a year and had no desire to figure out where the leak was, so I haven't used it since 2007 or so.

The truck is 2001 and also came with AC, but the compressor seized and took out the belt and that's how it was traded in. I said I didn't care enough about the AC to spend $300 on the compressor, so we bought the shorter belt and got it running. I will say the truck does not cool off as well as the car while driving due to smaller windows (both are 2 doors). Yes, it's hot but it's not much different than being outside and I am outside a lot. Getting stuck in traffic can be a pain but I don't have to deal with that often either.

My jobs are only a few miles away and with old cars it almost takes longer for the car to cool down than it does to drive to work (heat is kind of the same way).

Now in case you're not convinced I'm crazy, I biked 45 miles earlier today and had my bike with me for an after-work ride if it worked out. I've also driven my car down south in the summer with no AC. Seriously, I prefer that than getting in and out of an air conditioned car while sightseeing. Cold hot cold hot - no thanks!

Cam, I find it funny that you complain about more laundry in the summer - I'm the opposite! Shorts and tanks take up a lot less room than the sweatshirts and base layers I live in all winter - even if I do go through a couple of changes in a day.

To get back on topic, it's still pretty sticky out!! I keep hearing rumbling but I'm not seeing any lightening.

I saw 99 on my thermometer late afternoon. Cam - really not this hot in 4 years? I thought we'd gotten over 100 recently.
That's the case with me (with cars, home I have the AC cranking, small enough place that 2 large window AC's cover everything). In the summer I only commute to a job that is 4 miles from home so I put up with it.

As for the 100, it's only happened at Brainard (the "official" weather station when the TV/radio reports Hartford temps is BDL, the airport up at Windsor Locks, which got to 99, these were both still the hottest reading up and down the East Coast yesterday, besting the 97 at both LGA and EWR (LaGuardia and Newark airports)), but it's still a weather station, like if for some reason it was the hottest spot in the entire US for the day, Brainard would count as that. And Brainard is closer to Hartford itself geographically than BDL is.

100 is something that is not extremely rare, yet not common around here either. All time record at both BDR and BDL is 103 (state record is 106 set in Danbury in 1995). Using Central Park (just because I know a lot of the records there though for daytime temperatures BDL is probably a similar profile), it last happened 4 years ago (outside shot of that happening today, officially they are predicting 98 which means based on yesterday BDL and EWR (Newark airport) will probably go over 100). In seems to go in waves, there was only 1 temperature over 100 there in the 2000s (in 2001), but it occurred more frequently in the 1990s and this decade (at least the 2010-12 period where it happened each year). The 1950's also saw a 100+ temperature most summers (in the period 1952-1957 only 1956 didn't see one), but then there was only 1 in the 1960's (1966, when there were a record 4 such temps that summer and 3 in a row) and just once in the 1970's (three days in 1977 out of a 4 day period). None in the 1980's outside of 1980 itself.

I don't believe Hartford recorded weather officially yet in 1881 but Central Park's first 100 was actually its (to date) latest in the year, a 101 on Sept. 7.

By 'not common' I meant it doesnt happen more years than it does (in Hartford and NYC, less often in BDR). But its hardly an unprecedented thing either, I agree.
