I finally got more than an inch in 24hrs. Been since July 5th! Doing my daily 7am rain gauge check in 20 min.

There it is. In the books. Albany's 4th snowiest October and Hartford's 3rd snowiest. Notice... 5 of the last 16 yrs in Top 10.

I'd love to do it everyday! But first, I'll need a weather station

This was Hartford yesterday at about 3:30pm. The roads were getting fairly slushy and slippery, yet again everyone forgets how to drive in such conditions. It quickly turned to all rain just above Meriden and then continued raining on and off in Wallingford through the evening. We had some good winds and heavy downpours later in the eve, looks like we got a solid inch of rain if not a little more.

Glad the weekend is looking so nice.

Couple of Snowfall total report maps. We need more observers out there.

Link to the maps. Let me know if you have questions.

I'm planning to camp along the Appalachian Trail near Bear Mtn on Sat Nov 5th.

I'm hoping they got enough precipitation so that there are adequate water sources then, as I've heard recent reports that they dried up.

I remember October 1987 in Albany as I was living up there at the time, it all occurred on October 4 (very early) and there were massive blackouts from wet snow weighing down the trees that still had leaves on them.

One of the coldest last week of October in decade (since 2005). I am using the wood stove like it's December!

Danbury, CT (& I) have been below 50° for 96hrs+ straight.

Last time at 60°+ was last week!

Look at those high temps, 40s! Lows in 30s and even 20s the other day.

What a stretch... and windy to boot!

You guys ready for a warmup? It's gonna feel like August since it's been feeling like December recent days.

In fact ......

Last time I was at 60° or warmer was 7 days ago!

172 hours straight for Danbury, CT and counting!

If that hot week didn't happen, this month would of been slightly below normal. . I hate when 6 days skews the monthly Average!

Snow totals so far this season:

Fairbanks, Alaska: 0.8"
Caribou, Maine: T
Burington, Vermont: T

Albany, NY: 1.7"
Hartford, CT: 1.5"
Binghamton, NY: 1.0"
Rochester, NY: 0.9"

?? But those 6 days balance the very cold days we just had...thats how the average came about. As I've always said normal is just the balance between the extremes.
