I have some crystals on the ground and snow board out there from the passing Lake Erie effect snow squall yesterday evening. When a few flakes doesn't melt after 12hrs, you know its cold!

Temp 21° outside. Dew point 17°

Radar loop last 4 hrs.. Here it comes!

Current Alerts.. The joys of being in NWS Uptons area. I don't know if they are just waiting or if criteria doesn't meet any alerts.

I'm still not convinced this turns to rain and washes out by tomorrow. Are we sure this isn't trending a little south to be all snow?

Definitely sure. Draw a continuous counterclockwise circle around the storm, get bigger with each circle you draw... With this type of storm track it means warm air starts coming in from the south.

"Lake Cutters" are a killer for an all snow or any snow event. Be lucky we're getting something. lol Arctic air in place is the reason. Timing was great for it otherwise we wouldn't be talking about snow

As far as when.. I think by sunrise all of CT is rain.
Sooner for Coast and Fairfield of course. Probably after midnight?

I am thinking more ice and that would stink. Rather take snow over ice.

I drove through a snow squall! It was very cool because I'm driving down the Merritt and there was nothing. Instead of taking the Hutch I decided to take I287 across to I-95.

Well, on I-287 it was snowing. It didn't last long (120 seconds?) and was clear skies facing south and on I-95. So I knew it was a localized cloud.

Sure enough... See it?

A loop.. It's from Lake Erie.. My sister has 18" of snow on ground from Lake effect. All we get is snow showers from it. lol

Saw a very similar brief thing driving in Mt. Vernon, NY around 2pm yesterday. Interestingly, the only one of the 6 major OKX weather sites (Central Park, LaGuardia, JFK, Newark, Bridgeport, Islip) to report any snowfall yesterday was Newark.

I saw this map and wondered it myself (i.e. how can the part of NJ immediately south of Staten Island have a WWA but not the counties in NJ due north of it) and did a little digging. It's because the Philly office thinks there might be some freezing rain and sleet mixed in before it turns to all rain and OKX does not think this.

Current radar and metars.

Snow on our doorstep! Nice big blob of it....Or is it. Not even White Plains reporting light snow under those darker returns? lol Dry Dry Dry. Virga!

State College getting snow (not light) now.

I'll probably see a few minutes of snow with this little front end batch
