Check out the Euro now.. Clipper doesn't styay "north" of us. It actually comes right over us then a new coastal low forms. 2-5" snows across CT.

The blue line represents the rain/snow line. Basically north of that line it's cold from surface to upper levels and supports snow.

notice the darker green colors over us, that indicates heavier snows 7am-1pm Wednesday the 1st.

See it? The new change from previous updates. And nothing would melt much either. Temps in the teens and 20s after that clipper. Euro00z says.

Temps just touching 40 it's nice. Heard rumors of a storm next Wednesday and then an artic chill coming in. Too far away to predict, but heard 18 hour window of snow.

Regional Drought Monitor

Updated drought monitor maps are up. Guess who's the worst off in the Northeast now? Oddly, Connecticut is.

11am temps. Wish I was in Virginia right now. Sunny & 60s. Not looking forward to this cold front which is now in PA. Goodbye 45-55° temps for us for 2 weeks.

Wow NWS/OKX is still saying sunny and 45 for Feb 1. I guess they are late to the party.

Still 5-6 days away, doubt they'll change forecasts too many times. But they do mention the Euro in their discussion

National Weather Service New York NY
1039 AM EST Thu Jan 26 2017

This is largely a dry forecast with perhaps some scattered snow
showers or flurries, mainly north and west of NYC, with the
passing of each shortwave trough. Deep-layered cyclonic flow will
allow for instability clouds to develop inland and perhaps work
down to the coast during the daytime hours. The 00Z ECMWF takes
a more southern track with the low across the Great Lakes
Tuesday into Wednesday, with possible secondary development off
the New England coast. This scenario and at this far north
latitude is difficult to get significant precipitation, but
trends in subsequent runs will need to be watched.

Also note they mention "passing of each shortwave". Means there's more than 1 event.. That means there's chances of snow showers pretty much each day Saturday to Wednesday.

New pattern, more wintry. We been talking about it for over a week now. Was seen a mile away. Ugh.

When it looks like this for NYC, you know CT is same or cooler.

GFS12z data for NYC. Cold with snow chances and the 6th snowstorm still showing up.

Just not ready for this stretch of cold but it starts tomorrow.
