Most restaurants in Southington Bristol area closed. McDonalds had line down the road. No joke.

Yeah, this storm wasn't even a "thing" until 2-3 days ahead this time.

A lot has to do with a combination of icy roads in areas that have a lot of narrow windy "backroads" and how soon they can clean off school buses and get them ready. In an age where it's very easy to get sued over safety, districts are over cautious. Believe me, districts would much rather prefer to delay than close if possible, delays don't have to be made up but closures do per state law.

NWS seems to have taken next Wednesday's storm out of the forecast....

Some areas such as Hartford don't want kids standing in partially cleared city streets waiting for buses, or walking in streets because sidewalks not cleared, or kids not seen by drivers because of mounds of snow. It makes sense for them to close tomorrow, too. West Hartford hasn't announced yet. I think superintendent is waivering between 2 hour delay or closing. Town has hired private contractors to do some of the plowing. Haven't seen a town plow, but private ones just did our street, several times.
